How Do Virtual Queues Work at Disneyland Paris?
If you’ve been Googling how to beat the queues at Disneyland Paris, you’ve probably come across something called a virtual queue.
And if your first thought was “Oh no, not another app thing to figure out,” I get it. But don’t panic—this one’s actually quite straightforward, and it can seriously save you time.
We’ve done our time queuing for hours in the cold to meet characters, so we’re excited to test out this new system when we visiting in May 2025.
In this guide, I’ll walk you through exactly how the Disneyland Paris virtual queue works in 2025, which characters use it, and how to join.
Update: as of August 2025, Stitch has reverted back to regular queueing.

What Is a Virtual Queue?
The virtual queue at Disneyland Paris requires you to reserve a spot to meet certain characters without waiting in a physical line.
You do this through the official Disneyland Paris app, then show up at your allotted time for the meet.

The issue is these slots are first-come first-served, and the slots go within seconds.
They’re free to book, but only available for a small number of meet-and-greets. The rest are just good old-fashioned physical queues.
Which Character Meets at Disneyland Paris Use Virtual Queue?
As of 2025, the virtual queue system at Disneyland Paris is mainly used for popular character meet-and-greets, especially the ones that would otherwise involve long queues.
Character | Location |
---|---|
Spider-Man or Another Marvel Character | Hero Training Centre, Avengers Campus (Walt Disney Studios Park) |
Mickey Mouse | Meet Mickey Mouse Theatre, Fantasyland (just past Dumbo) |
Princess Pavillion | Princess Pavilion, Fantasyland (near It’s a Small World) |
Star Wars Characters | Discoveryland (usually near the entrance to Star Tours) |
Olaf | Across from Animagique Theatre, Walt Disney Studios Park |
How To Join a Virtual Queue for Character Meets
So let’s go through exactly how to get you that character meet.
Before You Start, Make Sure…
- Your park tickets are linked to your Disneyland Paris app.
- You’re scanned into the relevant park by going through the gates.
- You’re off the park Wi-Fi and using mobile data—the app is glitchy on Disney’s network and may not load the button properly.

Once You’re Sorted…
- Open the Disneyland Paris app.
- On the home screen, scroll to the “Characters” section and tap through to the park where your chosen character is meeting.
- Find the character you want to meet, then tap “Join the queue.” Hit “Select this experience” when prompted.
- Choose everyone in your group who’s meeting the character, then tap “Confirm.”
- You’ll get a provisional return time—keep checking the app, as you’ll later get a message saying “It’s time, make your way to your meet.”
- Head to the meeting location, show your QR code to the Cast Member, and you’ll be added to the physical queue.
Tips To Remember
Here are a few tips/things to remember when attempting to get a character meet slot.
Set expectations (especially with little ones)
This part is key.
With the virtual queue system, you can’t guarantee that your princess-obsessed child is going to get that meet—and trying to promise it will only lead to tears (for everyone).
When we queued for Stitch, we saw several parents yelling at Cast Members when they couldn’t get in.

But here’s the thing: it’s completely random, and there’s nothing the Cast Members can do.
The same happened when we had a Mickey slot—despite having a booking, we arrived to find about 50 people already queuing. Most of them didn’t even have a slot and were just trying their luck.
Be ready for the slots to drop
If you’re serious about getting a spot, be on the app and sitting on the character’s page by 9:45am or 1:55pm.
Slots tend to go live at 9:50am and 2pm, and they go within seconds—especially for Stitch.
Start clicking “select this experience” a minute before they go live. Keep tapping it until it lets you through. It may not work, but it’s worth a try!
Don’t give up (and don’t forget the other meet options)
We got Stitch on our fourth try—and we were thrilled.
But if the virtual queues aren’t working out for you, there are still loads of character meets happening the old-fashioned way.
These pop up across the parks and will usually say “Meet a Character” on the app, without naming names.
We spotted Minnie Mouse near Cowboy Cookout, Belle outside the entrance to Snow White, and even Ant-Man wandering through Avengers Campus.
Stitch sometimes appears in the covered area under Videopolis Theatre before or after his meet, and you’ll usually catch him dancing in the parade too. So even if you don’t bag a slot, there are still plenty of magical moments to be had.
Know why this system exists
It’s frustrating, yes—but there is method to the madness.
The virtual queue system helps avoid the nightmare lines Disneyland Paris used to have for the most popular meets.
The Princess Pavilion queue used to hit 4 hours+ during peak times!
This system also means no one is able to skip the line with a Priority Pass anymore, so the system is completely “fair”. Everyone’s odds are the same.
FAQs: Virtual Queues at Disneyland Paris
Can I join more than one virtual queue per day?
Yes, as long as the characters use the system and there are slots available. You can only join one queue at a time, though—once you’ve completed one meet, you can try for another.

What happens if I miss my return time?
Your slot might be forfeited. Cast Members can sometimes be flexible (especially if you’re only a few minutes late), but there’s no guarantee—so try to be there as soon as you get the “it’s time” notification.
Final Thoughts
The virtual queue system at Disneyland Paris can be a bit confusing (and occasionally frustrating), but it’s there to make things fairer.
Instead of queuing for hours with no guarantee, everyone gets the same shot at meeting those big-name characters.
It’s not perfect, but once you understand how it works, it can really help you make the most of your day. Set realistic expectations, keep trying, and remember—some of the best Disney moments are the ones you don’t plan for.
