Through My Lens: A Weekend in Dublin

This is my husband Callum, drinking a Guinness on a grey-skied July afternoon in Dublin.

We were on a weekend away in Dublin (tried and tested itinerary here!), making the most of the city in between rain showers and over-ordering on food and drink.

The photo was taken at the top of the Guinness Storehouse—pint in hand, rooftops stretching out below us.
A classic Dublin view, with classic Dublin weather.

Not five minutes later, he dropped to one knee in front of the whole sky bar.

I froze. I’d told him I wanted a private proposal, and this was very much not that.

I managed to yank him up before anyone properly clocked what was happening. He thought it was hilarious.
The actual proposal came two months later—on a secluded clifftop in Ibiza, just the two of us.

How I Took This Image

📱 Camera: Samsung S21 Ultra

📆 Time of Year: July (Irish weather for you!)

🕒 Time of Day: Afternoon

📍 Location: Guinness Storehouse Sky Bar, Dublin

🎨 Editing: Adobe Lightroom—
softened the haze and warmed the tones just enough to lift the greys

💡 Dublin Photo Tip

Forget trying to get the place to yourself.
Dublin’s busy, loud, and full of life—which is exactly what makes it so fun to photograph. Focus on people, little interactions, and real moments (especially if you’re shooting indoors or with bad weather outside).
